FTC Changes Law for Robo Calls, Voice Broadcasting and IVR

By admin · Monday, August 31st, 2009

The Federal Trade Commission made significant changes in the laws for robo calls, voice broadcasting, interactive voice response (IVR), press 1 campaigns and pre-recorded messages. The FTC issued a new mandate, effective September 1, 2009 which may affect the way voice broadcasting is used in marketing and advertising campaigns in the United States. Until recently, FTC rules on calling people have only prohibited that businesses cannot do voice broadcasting or outbound dialing to people who are on the Do Not Call list. The new FTC measures will make calling more like email: recipients must ‘opt in’ to allow you to call them.

Yet, Kelly Media Group announced a new outbound dialing promotion for new and existing KMG clients.  A Kelly Media Group spokesman said that when companies commit to 40,000 outbound dialing, will include their “conference call” recording at no cost.  The conference call technology is a $5,000 value.  “The Kelly Media Group council has been able to process the new outbound dialing campaigns without violating the new FTC laws.” Kelly Media Group is prepared to keep you compliant with these new FTC outbound dialing guidelines. If you are currently using voice broadcasting and want to learn how you can continue with compliance you may contact us at 877-788-8463.
